"Guess who's back.....
back again.....
Ted Sandilands is back....
tell a friend...."
I know I'm cheesy, no need to tell me that. Any who, Ted Sandilands is back! yay! After a long year, Ted is back and shooting again.

Ted and I, go way back. We've been shooting together for 8 or 7 yrs now. When we get together my mother described it as dangerous. We plan to shoot one concept and we end up shooting something totally different. I end up in a morph suit or covered in gold paint.
This shoot we decided to keep it simple and do some head shots and of course we got off course. As well as shooting some vintage head shots. Then even modeling a top and dress he made. Ending the shoot with a UV bondage theme, were we definitely realized we have no idea what we are doing when it comes to tying rope knots.
I of course wanted to showcase my fully finished half sleeve. I finished it a while ago but I don't have any photos of it as a focus. My half sleeve is a memorial to my mother.
My mom passed away in September of 2016. I wrote a very lengthy blog entry about her and how much she influenced my modeling work/career. It's a long but good read ( Read it! bring your tissues!)
My tattoo has a amethyst heart gem stone (my mother loved amethyst jewelry, it was her birthstone and she liked purple) The blue rose , looks like a painting and has a skull hidden within it in the petals. (My mother wanted a blue rose tattooed on her with purple roses and filigree before she passed, but chemo prevented this. Also the tattoo artist Ian of Seven Seas Tattoo, Orchard Park, NY did a blue rose oil painting that my mom really liked and possibly wanted it tattooed on her) The bird on the back of my arm is a little own finch holding a needle and pink thread in his beak. (My mother used to breed these little guys. Birds were her passion and hobby. My mom built huge 5x6 flight cages for these little birds so they could fly freely around. He has a needle and thread because my mother was a seamstress. My mother made and altered countless costumes and outfits for me over the years for my modeling and burlesque. The pink thread because my mother lost her life to incurable breast cancer.)

I love dressing up all vintage. Im drawn to the 20's-40's. I can pull think look off very well, well I think. Its also very fun to edit and play with these photos to make them look aged. I was so proud of myself, not only did I get Fake eyelashes to stick to my eyelids, I killed the vintage finger wave hair style. Yes, I did my hair, makeup, and styling. Boo-yah.
Ted not only takes photos, but has been practicing and experimenting with making his own outfits for shoots. Making outfits from everything but not limited too lace, chainmail, string, rope, glue, and metal. I modeled a halter top made of individually tied pieced of string, to create a fringe look. Its a difficult garment to model without a bra, fringe, cold studio and nipples don't mix. Haha you do the math.
Also on the unplanned agenda, I modeled a lace dress Ted made. I felt very princessy, as in star wars princess. The dress was all lace with flowing bell sleeves.

Custom hand made chain mail pieces for the shoulders and waist. His wife who is an amazing quilter was proud her husband made a dress. (they are adorably still in love after being married all those years,) it was kind see through, very cool to wear.
It fit me perfectly even though it was
originally made for another model. (Snooze you lose.) I hope Ted makes some more outfits
*cough *cough. You know so I can see them.
(and model them...)
Finally it wouldn't be an afternoon of chaos
without shooting with his blacklight rig. Black light or UV is so much fun to shoot. You will be surprised that not all whites glow and not everything that appears to be neon glows. Also you will be surprised how sun damaged your face is too under UV light. Eek.
What craziness will we do next!
