While shooting cosplay in the studio (photos to come in the future) Photographer Ted Sandilands throw out an idea about experimenting with Lights. Of course, Ted and I work well together and artistic ideas get tossed around so much, we eventually end up shooting something totally different than what we planned.

Painting with light can be done by using flashlights, glow sticks, lightsabers (haha) etc. Ted had made led light sticks, pretty much a homemade lightsaber. Which are very fun to wave around and make silly sound effects while nude. Anyways, the room needs to be dark and the camera shutter needs to be open for a range of 3 to 10 seconds depending on what your looking to achieve.

Also the model (Meeee!) needs to hold their pose as still as possible until the shutter closes. So if a pose is kinda difficult to hold for a normal shot imagine what 10 seconds feel like. (Oh they say modeling will be easy, not if your a figure model) These photos are a result of unplanned experimentation with homemade lightsabers & lazer pointers and awkwardly posing for 10 seconds without getting a charlie horse. Enjoy!

Lazer pointer scribbled around me.

My right arm is controlling the lightsaber (which has multiple color settings) swinging it in a arch effect.
I am holding two seperate led light sticks and creating a purple heart.
Ted is moving the light saber from in front of me from the feet up and over my head behind me.
